Puramatom panchayat is fairly well networked in the matter of transport. There are two main Roads going through Puramattom village. Thiruvalla-Ranny Road passes in the heart of Puramattom and Kottayam-Punaloor Road going through the eastern boarder of the village. There are around 30 kms. tared roads going around in Puramattom village.State owned KSRTC and private persons are operating for the whole transporting requirments. Inland water transport is negligible.There are two major bridges over Manimala river, Karuthavadasserry kadavu bridge and Komalam bridge. The nearest railway station is Thiruvalla (about 10 k.m. west). Chengannur railway station is about 14 kms away from here. The nearest airport is at Kochi, 110kms away from Puramattom. Trivandrum Airport is 120 kms away.
Puramattom is one of the beautiful place of Central Travancore be blessed with finest natural scenes and enviornment. There you can see many places worth to watch. Karinkuttimala, Chettuthadam, Umikkunnumala and Kuzhikkala river bed are some of them.Tourist season is October to May.
Thrikkayil Sree Mahadeva temple a major hindu temple by side of river Manimala situated in this panchayat, where major festival is conducted for 10 days during March every year on account of Mahasivrathri with various item of cultural entertainment and fire works. There are 16 Christian churches here, so there are plenty of festivals too. Festival of Valankara Muslim Ja:ath Muhayaddin mosque is on 'Dhanu'(Malayalam Month) 14. Hebronpuram Christian Convention is two kilometre away from here. The famous Maramon Christian convention is 10 km away and Cherukolpuzha Hindumatha convention is 12 km away. Kalloppara Convenction, one of the ancient christain conventions in the Central Travancore is run by the Nironam Diocese of Indian Orthodox church and annually organised under the auspicious of Kalloppara St, Mary's, Kalloppara St. Stephens, Vennikkulam St. Behnan's, Puramattom St. Mary's and Chengaroor St. George Orthodox churches. Last year it celebrated the 100th anniversary.Mangattu VariKkaplammoottil Kochoonju, Adangappurathu Idichandy Panicker, Kalloor Thoma Kathanar were the founders of this convention. It is estimated that approximately 8-9 thousand people attend the week-long convention speeches. Venue at Karuthavasserikadavu.(500 meters east from the bridge)
Food habits of the people of this panchayat are generally the same that of the other parts of the state. Ofcourse there may be variations in quality and contents according to once status and afluence. Main food is rice for almost all Keralites. Fish is another favourable item except for those who take only vegetarian food. Tapioca , local agricultural product is also widely liked and consumed by all.
