The first educational institution of the panchayat, the Govt. Elementary school, established at Puramattom in 1912. The first govt. technical institute in the Mallappally taluk, Vennikkulam Govt. Poly technic situated in this village. There are four Computer institutes, Four Typewriting Institutes, Four private parallel colleges and one dance school. The leteracy percentage of the panchayat is almost 100.
